Updates

The app looks for a new version by itself, downloads it in the background and asks before it restarts.

How it goes

  1. The app checks 10 seconds after it opens, and every 4 hours while it stays open.
  2. A new version downloads in the background. Nothing changes yet.
  3. When it is ready you get a notice with two choices: Restart now, or Later. Later installs it the next time you quit.

Check for Updates… in the app's menu asks at once, and tells you the result. A check that fails on its own is written to the log and never interrupts you.

By system

WindowsSilent when the app was installed only for me, the default. Installed for everyone on the computer, each update asks for administrator approval.
macOSAutomatic updates need a signed build. Until the app is signed, download new versions from Downloads and install them over the old one.
LinuxThe AppImage updates itself in place.

What an update leaves alone

Your data folder: settings, prompts, rules, the job list and your media. An update replaces the program and nothing else. Your ComfyUI, its models and its workflows are not the app's to update either.

When the Acceptable Use Policy changes, the app asks you to read and agree to the new version once, on its next launch.

What the check sends

A request to GitHub, where the releases are published: your IP address, and the fact that a copy is checking. Nothing about your media, your prompts or your settings.
